The Gift of Shelter: The Benavides Family

This Christmas, Saint Joseph’s Roofing is giving the Gift of Shelter by providing a brand-new roof—at no cost—to a deserving family in our community. For 2025, we are honored to present this gift to Juan and Martina Benavides of Herndon, Virginia.

Juan and Martina have been faithful parishioners of their local church in Herndon since 2006, generously giving their time and talents to various ministries and volunteer efforts. Known throughout the parish for their quiet resilience, deep kindness, and unwavering commitment to helping others, the Benavides family has always put community and faith first—even when facing their own challenges.

In recent years, Martina has been living with a serious spinal condition that forced her to stop working. With only Juan’s income now supporting the household, the family has struggled to cover daily expenses and rising medical costs. Necessary home repairs, including their aging roof, have had to be postponed indefinitely. Despite these hardships, the Benavides remain remarkably positive. They continue to serve others whenever they can, and their children continue to thrive and excel in school.

The Benavides are the kind of family who give without expecting anything in return—they rarely ask for help, even when they need it most. That is why we are especially grateful to the parishioners who nominated them for The Gift of Shelter this holiday season.

Thanks to the generosity of our team at Saint Joseph’s Roofing and the support of our community, the Benavides family will soon have a safe, secure, and worry-free roof over their heads. It is our privilege to ease one burden for this remarkable family who has given so much to others.

From everyone at Saint Joseph’s Roofing, we wish Juan, Martina, and their children a warm, peaceful, and joy-filled Christmas under their beautiful new roof. Thank you for helping us make The Gift of Shelter possible this Christmas.
